Advocacy Day 2026

On February 3, GSO led a powerful coalition of partners from across California in Sacramento for Advocacy Day, uniting community leaders to call on state lawmakers to advance policies that help families build financial stability and move out of poverty. The day, organized by the Prosper California Coalition, underscored a simple truth: when community voices lead, meaningful policy change follows.

Community partners and supporters joined GSO President Amy Everitt and Legislative Advocate Vanessa Flores to advocate for continued investment in the California Earned Income Tax Credit Outreach and Education Program and free tax preparation services. These proven tools play a critical role in helping working Californians access tax credits they have earned and keep more of their hard earned income. Each year, these programs support millions of households struggling to make ends meet and provide a pathway toward long term economic security.

Alongside the Prosper California Coalition, GSO met with more than 40 legislators throughout the day, held a press conference to highlight the importance of tax credits, and convened partners in an evening reception to strengthen relationships and align advocacy efforts. Together, the coalition demonstrated broad support for policies that reduce poverty and promote economic opportunity statewide.
