Free Tacos and Free Tax Preparation in Sacramento on Tax Day
“Tacos & Taxes” event to feature free tax preparation by IRS-certified volunteers
Filers may also be eligible for refundable tax credits that put money back in their pockets

Sacramento, CA – This Wednesday, April 15, “Tax Day”, State Treasurer Fiona Ma, Assemblymember Stephanie Nguyen, Golden State Opportunity (GSO), and Asian Resources Inc. (ARI) are co-hosting “Tacos & Taxes” at the ARI Headquarters in Sacramento. Free tax preparation services to community members through ARI’s VITA program will be offered.

Participants will enjoy free tacos at the event while they get their taxes prepared by IRS-certified Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) volunteers for no cost. VITA Volunteers provide free, safe, convenient, trusted, and caring tax preparation. Individuals with an income up to $69,000 or seniors (65+) with an annual income up to $90,000 may be eligible for free tax preparation at this event. To register for an appointment, participants can call the ARI office at 916-454-1892.

Filers also may qualify for refundable, cash-back tax credits when they file their taxes. Cash-back tax credits like the California Earned Income Tax Credit (CalEITC), the Young Child Tax Credit (YCTC), and the Foster Youth Tax Credit (FYTC) are some of the state’s most effective anti-poverty tools and help put more money back into the pockets of working people. California workers who earn no more than $32,900 and file their taxes could receive up to $302 for workers without children and up to $3,756 for families with children via the CalEITC.
