It’s not too late to file your taxes. Join us at Altadena Library to file your taxes for free!
Golden State Opportunity, Altadena Libraries, and LAVITA Community Financial Organization are offering free tax preparation by IRS-certified staff who will help you understand your options even if you’re not ready to file. Wildfire survivors and anyone who hasn’t filed their taxes yet are encouraged to come. No appointment, registration, or sign-up needed. Walk-ins are welcome.
- To qualify for free tax preparation, generally you must make less than $67,000.
- If you earned less than $31,950 in 2024, you may qualify for valuable tax credits like the California Earned Income Tax Credit and get thousands of dollars back.
- People who file taxes with an ITIN may qualify too.
- The deadline to file your taxes is October 15, 2025.

What to Bring
- Current Photo Identification
- Social Security cards or ITIN for you, your spouse, and/or dependents
- Copy of last year’s federal and state returns
- Proof of financial account numbers for direct deposit of refund (routing number and account number)
- For Married Filing Joint – both spouses must be present
- Income Statement/Other forms:
- Wages from each job (W-2)
- Interest statements (1099-INT)
- Dividend statements (1099-DIV)
- All retirement income (1099-R)
- Gambling winnings (1099-2G)
- Unemployment Forms (1099-G)
- Social Security benefits (SSA)
- Tuition to a university or technical college (1098-T)
- Interest paid on student loans (1098-E)
- Daycare expenses paid for your children: bring provider name, address, their Tax ID & Social Security number
- Charitable Donations
- Mortgage interest and real estate taxes paid in 2020 (1098)
- Health Insurance Proof of Coverage (1095)
- Health Insurance Marketplace Statement, including Covered CA (1095-A)
