SAN FRANCISCO–Golden State Opportunity President Amy Everitt issued the following statement after the Supreme Court voted to overturn Roe v. Wade:

“Today, the Supreme Court overturned 50 years of precedent and stripped away the rights of women to make vital medical and family planning decisions. This heart-wrenching ruling will have the biggest impact on people who are already struggling and living on the margins. The majority of women who seek abortions are already living on low-incomes. Many are already raising a child. Access to safe and legal abortion is proven to increase hourly wages and educational attainment. Taking away women’s agency over their own bodies will only push people further away from financial security.”
