Congress: Lift 500,000 kids out of poverty with the CTC

A bipartisan group in Congress just announced a proposed tax deal that would bring back the expanded Child Tax Credit (CTC) for 3 years and be accompanied by tax breaks for large corporations. If it passes, this measure will help millions of families afford basic living essentials like food, rent, and child care resulting in over 500,000 children being lifted out of poverty.

When Congress first expanded the CTC during the pandemic, it led to millions fewer children in poverty, and the lowest child poverty rate on record. But Congress let that program expire, and as a result the child poverty rate exploded by a shocking 140% from 2021 to 2022. That’s why it’s so important that we do everything we can to bring it back now.

Tell Congress to pass the bipartisan deal to expand the Child Tax Credit and then make it permanent.
